Holistic Doctors - How to Find One.
The type of holistic doctor you need is driven by the type of treatment that you require. This is largely because there are a number of alternative medicine treatments available.
A holistic doctor could adopt a biochemical approach. This type of approach would lend itself to treating problems like physiological, hormonal, problems related to enzymes, nutrients, and cellular function. For example, botanical medicine, nutritional supplements and changes to your diet might all come under the auspice of a biochemical approach.
Alternatively, a holistic doctor could adopt a structural approach. This type of approach could be used to address a structural imbalance in the body. For example, massage therapy, craniosacral therapy, osteopathy or a chiropractic approach are all examples of holistic practitioner adopting a structural approach, which entails direct access to the body.
If a holistic doctor were to adopt an energetic approach, they would probably be looking to address the body at the energetic level. Examples of an energetic approach would be homeopathy, reiki or therapeutic touch.
A mind or body approach could be used to address mental and emotional balance problems or perhaps to reduce stress. For example, biofeedback, meditation, guided imagery and hypnotherapy would all adopt a mind or body approach.
A good approach to a new holistic doctor could be to book a consultation at the outset, rather than a course of treatment. This way, the treatment could be explained to you, so that you could understand what is involved, before embarking on a more protracted course of treatment.
