Created by sculptor Alexander Stirling Calder in 1910 for a commission of $5,000, this archway, known as Calder's Arches, originally adorned the main entrance of Throop Hall. The building was severely damaged in the San Fernando earthquake and was demolished in the early '70s, but the entrance arches live on, adorning a north face of the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Laboratory of Chemical Synthesis.Save to My Web
